This striking $500 fine silver coin is the ultimate combination of an exceptional work of art, an extremely rare collector coin with a total mintage of just 100 pieces, and an incredible huge display piece. It's also one of the lowest-mintage silver coins ever issued by the Royal Canadian Mint. While this coin has been created for the elite collector, it presents an outstanding opportunity to acquire a collectible of exceptional beauty, rarity and intrinsic value.
The design is a symbolic celebration of Canada through its many heraldic and floral emblems on a grand scale. The "canvas" for this art is an immense 180-mm five-kilogram pure silver coin engraved with outstanding relief and detail; this is more than 160 troy ounces, or over 11 pounds. The coin comes in a custom-fitted acrylic display designed to allow for prominent exhibition. As a pure silver coin struck by the Royal Canadian Mint, this item is GST/HST exempt.
The Canadian coat of arms appears at the centre, where it is framed by classic scrollwork and topped by the maple leaves of Canada. An ornamental vine forms a wreath behind the 13 provincial and territorial coats of arms. Each shield is paired with the province/territory's official floral emblem. Both the reverse and obverse feature a wood grain-like textured field. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
